The Best Thing That Happened To Me in 2013

Image
Just like the previous years that passed, my year 2013 has been full of ups and downs, goods and bads; and success and failures. Though it has not been that perfect to me, my family, my studies, and my work, my year still generally becomes fair and the burning hope in me still continues to ignite as I look forward to a better year to come. Being given the opportunity to work as a content writer is the best thing that happened to me in 2013. I was so grateful after knowing about this because right after I had resigned from being a student assistant in my university last October, I thought I could not continue my studies any longer. I felt very helpless and almost lost the remaining faith in me. However, with the chance to work with another job, I re-motivated and re-dedicated myself to continue my growth. I have been considering my new job as the fulfillment of my dream of becoming a writer. I admit that I am really having a great time working, at the same time earning for a living.T...

Christmas Doesn't End

Image
Photo from Google A couple of days before Christmas, everybody had been very excited to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. In fact, as early as this, many were already busy putting up their Christmas trees of assorted sizes as well as glowing and dancing Christmas lights. Many were also setting a budget for the things to buy for the celebration, including the gifts to give, the foods to serve, and many more. People couldn't keep partying here and there before and during the celebration. Students, employees, or even members of organizations spent a day or a night enjoying with their colleagues, before the challenging year ends. Generally speaking, the pre- and during Christmas celebration became the merriest to most of us. Now, do we think Christmas is over? No! Christmas shouldn't end there. As we know, Christmas is a season of giving and loving. Do we suppose that these acts must only be manifested in 100 days? Think again. We must not be blinded from the fact ...

Why I Want a Cyberya Minigosyo

Photo by PLDKaAsenso Henry Sy of SM group, John Gokongwei, Jr. of JG Summit Holdings, Inc., and Manuel Villar, of Vista Land--these are some of the famous names in the business industry today. Not born with a silver spoon in their mouth, these successful individuals started setting up a small business with a big heart and humble attitude. Because of their persistent hard-work, their mini-investments had great returns, proving a real rags-to-richest story of life. Just like them, I also had dreamed of becoming a rich person someday; until I realized the blood and sweat it would require to achieve such goal. Despite this, I still persuaded and grabbed every single opportunity that might help more than my family's basic needs. For instance, after finishing high school, I worked as a sim card peddler, as a 'carinderia' helper, fashion shop assistant and a student assistant in a private school. I spent most of my teenage life working here and there but nothing had changed. M...

What to blog about?

Image
Photo from Google Blogging has been very popular nowadays. People are starting to familiarize the nature of blogging, as well as the benefits they could get when entering into this industry. The Culture of Silence

Image
Photo from Google Shall I forever hold my freedom of expression or renew my idea of silence? Every time I feel like being offended by their approaches, I would prefer to be quiet rather than arguing with their mistakes but another problem enters in. Whenever I remain quiet and neutral, they make another path through hurting me emotionally. They endlessly interpret another meaning behind my silence and add another implication as if I cannot hear what they say nor answer their accusations. Now, I do not know whether our culture of silence helps strengthen our relationship with the other people. Most concern people say that it is much better to remain silent and understand their errors. As respect to what the majority say, I follow the same philosophy but what I notice most of the time is that my silence turns to be insignificant at all. They are older than me. Considering the Filipino culture about the proper way of showing respect to the elderly, staying silent rather than verb...

Experiencing Korean Cuisine

Image
Literally hot and spicy! Dominating in all dishes of Korean cuisine, this taste makes Korean people so proud of their strong personality and rich culture. In celebration of Kadayawan 2013, I, Jill, and Mikko went to a Korean restaurant near the city, to indulge our cravings with Korean dishes that would really spice up our day. As we arrived in the restaurant, we were immediately presented with a food menu of all the mouth-watering Korean dishes. Afterward, we ordered for three delightfully interesting dishes Kim Bap, Hemul Tukbigi, and Yukgaejang. Prior to the three main dishes, six Korean side dishes that triggered our appetite, with their initial spiciness, were served for us. Among the six, I most love the Kim chi (êč€ìč˜) and Kkakdugi (êčë‘êž°). Kim chi is generally identified internationally as Chinese cabbage fermented with a mixture of red pepper, garlic, ginger, and salted fish sauce while Kkakdugi or diced radish is a type of kim chi which has all the ingredients of the popul...

Illogical Intervention

Image
Photo from Google A fault of some is not a fault of all! This is a basic logical thinking which most of the angered Taiwanese are not getting right now. They are enraged with the recent incidence happened to the Taiwanese fisherman who was shoot to death by some of the Philippine Coast Guard officials after the victim reportedly trespassed on the Philippine Sea . Right after the incident, the Taiwanese government as well as the family of the victim appealed for a public apology by the Philippine government. As response, the latter did what was requested yet the former still was not satisfied and raised other requests like the cancellation of the Visa approval of the OFW’s to travel to Taiwan. Subsequently, many discrimination cases to the Filipinos in Taiwan have been reported which resulted the Philippine nation to bother about the welfare of the many countrymen who are presently working there. It was reported that the Filipinos were discriminated and maltreated. How absurd! Th...

A Sunshine after A Heavy Rain

Image
Photo retrieved from www.google.com Life is a longest journey with countless uncertainties. We could experience laughter at one side and time would surely come that sorrow would occupy the other side of it. This is reality. No one experiences faultless or perfect living. Every one of us deserves to experience both happiness and sorrow because it should be understood that in happiness, we should realize pain of sorrow, and in sorrow, we should appreciate the value of happiness.

What Kind of Listener Are You?

Image
Photo from Google Every one of us listens and tries to relate to some of the conversations which we may belong. We listen, yet all of us do not have the same reason why we do this. In addition, we also do not have the uniform way of listening to someone. Yes, the skill that we perform is the same but our intention or manner of doing this varies in some different ways. Perhaps, you have not heard nor grasped the categories or types of listeners yet, but this article will surely help you to be mindful on this matter. The following classifications are enlisted by Bernales (2010): a. Eager Beaver This kind of listener presumes that he really has the heart of listening. He, most of the time, looks straightly to the one talking to him and sometimes nods and smiles as if he fully understands the words being said. The act of this particular listener is very deceiving but if he surely understands what he is listening of, that should be a very big question mark. b. Sleeper ...

THE CHOICE OF THE RIGHT STEP

Image
Photo retrieved from www.google.com  I walk along a crowded street near our school. Suddenly, I notice a lady who falls down out of her steps in front of me. I feel pity for the fallen girl whom a lot of people are staring at in this instance. I draw beside her and help her stand back. I softly tap her back and ask whether or not she is fine. Then, the lady affirms that she is fine and thanks me for the concern. We continue walking together as if nothing happens.
