Just like the previous years that passed, my year 2013 has been full of ups and downs, goods and bads; and success and failures. Though it has not been that perfect to me, my family, my studies, and my work, my year still generally becomes fair and the burning hope in me still continues to ignite as I look forward to a better year to come. Being given the opportunity to work as a content writer is the best thing that happened to me in 2013. I was so grateful after knowing about this because right after I had resigned from being a student assistant in my university last October, I thought I could not continue my studies any longer. Every time I feel like being offended by their approaches, I would prefer to be quiet rather than arguing with their mistakes but another problem enters in. Whenever I remain quiet and neutral, they make another path through hurting me emotionally. They endlessly interpret another meaning behind my silence and add another implication as if I cannot hear what they say nor answer their accusations. Now, I do not know whether our culture of silence helps strengthen our relationship with the other people. Most concern people say that it is much better to remain silent and understand their errors. They are enraged with the recent incidence happened to the Taiwanese fisherman who was shoot to death by some of the Philippine Coast Guard officials after the victim reportedly trespassed on the Philippine Sea . Right after the incident, the Taiwanese government as well as the family of the victim appealed for a public apology by the Philippine government. As response, the latter did what was requested yet the former still was not satisfied and raised other requests like the cancellation of the Visa approval of the OFW’s to travel to Taiwan. I feel pity for the fallen girl whom a lot of people are staring at in this instance. I draw beside her and help her stand back. I softly tap her back and ask whether or not she is fine. Then, the lady affirms that she is fine and thanks me for the concern. We continue walking together as if nothing happens.
